Our Story
Building on a long family legacy as medical pioneers in the Kingdom, Saudi German Health was founded by the Batterjee family 35 years ago to relieve people’s suffering and have a positive impact on their health.
In 1988, Eng. Sobhi Batterjee, Chairman of Saudi German Health, and Dr. Khalid Batterjee, Vice President of Saudi German Health, established the first hospital in Jeddah and collaborated with German University Hospitals to bring advanced German healthcare standards and expertise to the local community for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These associations inspired the ‘German’ in our name.
Makarem Sobhi Batterjee
President and Vice Chairman, Saudi German Health
Makarem Sobhi Batterjee became the President and Vice-Chairman of Saudi German Health in 2017 and paved the way towards expansion and advancement for our group by broadening its German foundation to build strong collaborations with renowned healthcare providers in the US, Canada, UK, and beyond. Under his leadership, we have focused on renovating our hospitals, digitally transforming our services, enhancing patient experience, introducing unique medical specialties, providing advanced treatments, bringing international doctors to the region, and building partnerships with international medical organizations.

Our Transformation
Our recent journey of transformation and rebranding from Saudi German Hospitals Group to Saudi German Health marked a new era in our history. This is not only a name change and visual upgrade but a portrayal of our rejuvenation - symbolizing progress, innovation, and positive change. Saudi German Health is a consolidation of our healthcare and education infrastructure, representing the fact that we are a global network of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, medical education facilities, and training institutes.
Starting from humble beginnings in 1988 with one hospital in Jeddah, today, we have several standalone clinics, 11 operational facilities, and many more under construction. Today, more than 8500 doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, and staff call Saudi German Health, their home.
