Alcoholism

Alcoholism is chronic and often progressive disease. It includes difficulty controlling drinking, preoccupation with alcohol, physical dependence, and denial.
Symptoms include 5 or more drinks daily for a man or 4 for a woman, starting each day with a drink, and guilt.
Treatments include detox, counseling, and medications.
