When one or more joints can move through a wider range of motion than usual.
If you have pain, try pain relievers you can buy without a prescription. Strength training the muscles around the joint as well as ice, heat, and braces or tape on the joints may help.
See a healthcare professional right away if a joint:
- Is stuck out of its usual place, also called dislocated.
- Hurts badly.
See a healthcare professional if a joint:
- Is painful or stiff.
- Is swollen.
- Seems to be injured.
